The Cannonball Run Kid’s Marathon is a program
designed to keep kids fit by running a marathon (26.2 miles) over
a 2-3 month period. The goals of the program are to encourage
physical fitness, goal setting, increase self confidence, and
encourage physical fitness as a way of life.
The Kid’s Marathon is for young athletes (ages 14 & under)
including physically and mentally challenged athletes (buddies may
be used as needed). Parents can accompany their children without
registering for any event.
Before October 18, participants run 25 miles and log their miles in
their runner’s log. Participants will bring their log books
(signed by their parents) to packet pickup to receive their race
number.
On race day these young athletes will run the last 1.2
miles—on a course that starts and finishes where the Cannonball
Run Half Marathon starts and finishes.
Each child participating in the program will receive a t-shirt,
goody bag, runner’s log, and finisher’s award.
